How to install a new hard drive on your computer

When you do not have disk space, we can increase total space by replacing existing hard disk with a larger or we can add a new or used as second hard disk.

If you replace the primary hard drive, you will need to reinstall the operating system. If you wish to reinstall your operating system, it will be cloned partition containing the operating system using EASEUS Disk Copy specific programs, HDClone, PC Inspector, Acronis True Image, Norton Ghost. Space which would always be used to make the copy partition with the operating system will be equal to or greater in size. For example, if you have a 30GB partition with Windows XP and a clone, destination disk should have at least 30GB free space (no partition).
How to choose your hard drive?
When choosing new hard disk, you need to know by what interface connects to the motherboard. Usually, the computers at home we have 2 types of interfaces: ATA and SATA.
ATA cable is a cable 40 or 80 wires arranged in parallel. SATA cable, however, has only 7 wires hooked together in insulation.

Differences between the two cable types:
- SATA cable being 2 SATA I and SATA II course, has a transfer speed of 1.5 Gb / s and 3.0 Gb / s. Instead ATA cable can transfer only 33, 66, 100 or 133 Mb / s depending on the hard disk and / or controller (chip on the motherboard that connects data between hard disk and south-bridge).
- SATA cable is thinner in diameter, allows for better airflow in the system.
- Compared with ATA interface, the SATA is hot-swap option, that hard drive can be removed / inserted into / from office without the need to stop the operating system.

Usually motherboards contain both types of interfaces that the system has a SATA hard disk. Instead, if the system has the ATA hard disk, you have to look on the motherboard or motherboard manual to check to see if you can support and SATA hard disks. It is preferable to buy a SATA hard disk because it is faster and costs less.

How to install the hard disk
1. There is a set of rules that must be followed to ensure that implementation of the new hard disk is correctly and safely:
- Always disconnect the computer power supply before placing a computer. Removing the power cable is the best.
- is good to know that a computer electronics are sensitive to electrostatic discharge. An electric discharge may damage some components. It is therefore ideal to use an electrostatic bracelet or exposed metal parts to touch (not painted) the computer before walking into the computer.
2.
Open the computer using a screwdriver by unscrewing surubelor attaching the side of the case.
3.
Locate the hard disk bay, which is usually in front of the computer.
4.
Make sure you set the jumpers correctly before turning the computer. This rule is valid only for ATA hard drives.
Why use jumpers ATA hard disks
Most motherboards have 1 or 2 IDE interfaces. Each interface supports up to 2 IDE hard disks. Master disc is called primary and secondary slave. Also, IDE interfaces are called Master, Slave respectively. Usually, hard disk master boot is on the operating system. ATA cables are usually three connectors on it: one to connect the cable to the motherboard and the other two coupling to two ATA hard drives.

For correct operation, each of the two hard drives which are mounted on an IDE cable must be configured Master and Slave. These configurations are obtained by changing the existing jumpers on the hard disk. If we only have an IDE hard drive, then that will be configured as Master.

Scheme of hard disk configuration in Master and Slave is written on hard-disk case. Each manufacturer of hard drives will write a unique configuration of its setting, so it is advisable to read the manual before installing the hard disk.

5. Find a free slot in your computer bay to enter the new hard disk. If there is already a hard disk bay, it is recommended to leave an empty space between the two hard drives to have a good air flow for cooling.
6.
Fix your hard drive right into the slot with some nut, two on each side of each hard disk.
7.
Connect the power supply cables and data cables.
8.
Check all cables and ensure they are properly connected.
9.
Close the computer case and start the unit.

How to install Microsoft Windows 8 Developer Preview

This system can be installed on virtual machine (e.g. Virtual Box or VMware) only if your processor supports virtualization. Each knows that if the processor has virtualization support.

System requirements for this new Windows are:

  • 1 GHz or better
  • 1 GB RAM (2GB for 64bit version)
  • 16 GB free on HDD (20 GB for 64 bit version)
  •  driver DirectX 9 graphics with WDDM 1.0 or higher

As you can see the Windows requirements are not excessive. (similar to those for Windows 7). After downloading the ISO image with Windows 8:01 or burn a DVD onto a USB stick (only works with software from Microsoft) enter the BIOS set to boot from DVD or USB stick.
1. Insert the DVD with Windows 8 in optical drive and restart the PC.
2. When the message “Press any key to boot from CD or DVD” in the Setup saintre press any key.

3. Select the language.
4. Accept the license terms.
5. Now you got to step in where you need to create partitions. (If you have a HDD or less 30 GB I recommend leaving only one partition).

6. Now waiting to copy files from DVD / USB stick in HDD. Eventually the PC will reboot several times.
7. We have to accept again terms and conditions.
8. Write a name, for example: Home, PC, etc. Then click next.
9. Because Windows 8 is a dual operating system it comes with a double authentication, namely:
  • Locally – which create a username
  • Web mode – which can use a Windows Live account
Because when creating login account does not have the possibility to create a PPPoE connection type who uses this mode will be using local authentication mode.
10. Create user and if you want you can put a password.

If you followed the above steps correctly, Windows 8 should be ready for use.

Google+ – tips and tricks

I think there is no point to bring up the question what is Google Plus or G + so for those who do not have guests they better get one and the rest I will go on with this article.
As you know, Google is also a social network very easy to use, even a seemingly trivial as too simplistic but besides the lack of games, everything it’s almost like Facebook.

  •    Q – pressing this key will take you directly to the chat – Google chat
  •     J pressing this key will scroll the page or down the wall
  •     K - pressing this key will scroll the page or wall up
  •     Space - pressing this key will scroll the page or down the wall
  •     Sift Space – pressing this key will scroll the page or wall up
  •     pressing +1 button is like pressing Like Facebook but will not appear on the wall only a page that appears each user can do or not to publish in his profile
  •      to prevent redistribution of our own article you click the down arrow above (after you published the article) and select “Disable redistribution – actually Disable reshare
  •      to write in bold in Google Plus use before and after St. /words * eg * word or phrase *
  •      to write bent in Google Plus use before and after St. /words _ eg_word_or_phrase_

Shortcut Guide for Facebook and Google+

Use more efficient Facebook and Google+ networks, using shortcuts that can be executed directly from the keyboard.

Facebook has recently received new clothes, more exactly Timeline interface, praised by some and criticized by others. Regardless of individual preferences, Facebook is constantly changing and successive amendments made to look and how social network structure can cause problems to accommodate users.

Fortunately we can avoid such inconvenience, quickly and conveniently while accessing various sections and functions of the network, using simple key combinations applicable in any web browser.
List of shortcuts for Facebook:
1 – Home page
2 – Timeline section of the user profile
3 – Friends list
4 – Received messages
5 – Notifications
6 – General settings of your account Facebook
7 – Privacy Settings
8 – Home
9 – Legal terms
0 – Help section
m – Cmpose a new message
? – Search function

Google+ users have shortcuts available to visit various sections and functions of social networking.
Here are the main commands:
J – jump to the next Google+ stream update
K – revisits the latest updates from Google + stream
Space – the swiftly running stream
Space + Shift – rolls back the list of streams
Enter – after selecting a stream from the list, pressing Enter allows open comments box
Enter + Tab – validates comment typed in the comment box
@ – @ Key using a user name followed by mentioning that allows people in a post and inform them about the message posted

How to remove Facebook Timeline

Timeline interface is criticized by many users of social network (Facebook). Undoubtedly, the main reason it’s because of the aspect (or it should be), because there can be no intimacy.
Thus, sensitive moments when, under the influence of certain conditions (too euphoric or, conversely, sadness), prompted you to post statuses and/or compromising photos that can be viewed and used against you by malevolent people.

Because Facebook has no explicit option to disable the timeline, the easiest solution is to resort to extensions that do this by simply installing them. Because it runs in the browser, there are separate extensions for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer. Soon, such extension will be available for Safari.

Notice Timeline will disappear only in the browser where you install these extensions, in other words they are useful only for personal use, for those who want to get rid of this interface. Another drawback is that, currently, extension concerns only the user profile, not Facebook pages.
Disable Timeline in Google Chrome
  • Launch Chrome browser and go to the Tools -> Extensions.
  • Click Get More Extensions link at the bottom.
  • Remove Timeline Search extension and install it.
  • Note extension (active by default) in the upper right corner of your browser.
If the Timeline is not resolved after you install the Facebook homepage refresh or restart your browser.
Remove Timeline available options offered appear right clicking the icon. These are: Disable (if you return to the Timeline), Uninstall (Removing extension), Hide Button (hiding icon associated extension).

Disable Timeline in Mozilla
  • Click on the link to Remove Timeline extension
  • Install Timeline Remove extension.
  • Refresh Facebook page or restart your browser.
  • Remove Timeline icon is located in the lower right corner of your browser. Right click on it for options.

Useful shortcuts for common commands in Windows 8

Windows 8 marks a definite change of direction for the Windows platform, which provides a secondary interface class that I met since the days of Windows 95 in favor of a simple designed  and full compatibility with devices based on touch screens.

Windows 8, at least in the Consumer Preview version, presents users with a completely new Metro interface masking the desktop completely and eliminate iconic Start Menu, replacing the Start screen filled with large rectangular icons representing applications installed.

There are several reasons why a user may prefer keyboard instead of a mouse. One is convenience. Most important though is productivity, which Metro interface aspect still leaves much to be desired, especially if we have a touch screen interface.
Fortunately Windows 8 supports a comprehensive list of applicable commands of short combinations of keys and we can quickly activate functions we need:
  • Windows Keyessential for most commands, the Windows key down allows individual display of the screen in Metro-style. You can type the desired program name in the search box, just like Windows 7.
  • Win + B – allows rapid switching in Windows classic and puts the focus on Windows Tray Notifications section.
  • Win + R – opens the so-called Charms Menu, a set of tools shown to the right screen, the search, share functions and advanced configuration options.
  • Win + D – Show Desktop command works in Windows 7, showing the classic Windows desktop.
  • Win + E – Launch Windows Explorer file manager, open the Computer section.
  • Win + F – Opens the File Search Metro, which can initiate searches to find files or information from files hosted on your hard drive.
  • Win + W – opens the search function in Metro Settings screen.
  • Win + Y – allows rapid visualization of classical desktop.
  • Win + Z – Opens App menu bar for current application.
  • Win + Page Up/Down – running lists back/forward.

How To Install Window 7 Without Losing Previous Data

Windows 7 Tips

Today we are posting for you a step by step guide to install Windows 7 without losing previous data you had on your computer. As we see each day, hundreds of people come to the computer repair shops requesting repairers to reinstall windows and keep their old files safe. This is not fair, because you can do it by yourself.
We all encounter headaches when Windows 7 crashes and you can’t do anything and reinstalling it seams to be the only solution.
Follow the instructions below
Before installing Windows, take a closer look on various methods to install. Basically, in every common computer two methods are used for installation.
  1. If your computer is working fine, you can just insert the CD/DVD  and start installing.
  2. If your previous Windows is almost dead then you can easily Install it by booting the computer with Windows 7 DVD inside.
Basic Instructions
Before starting the Installation, if you want to keep safe the files that were previously on the computer, you must do the following things:

  • First of all, save all your data in one of the partitions of your hard drive, mostly D, E, F or whatever name you have given to it. DO NOT save in partition C; as it will be used to copy the installation files.
  • Don’t forget to save the important files you have on your previous Windows Installation Driver: My Documents, Desktop and the ones from Program Files. You can copy them to the other drives and also save your archives or important files and even some of programs.
If you take this measures and copy all of your files in a different drive then the one you will install Windows, it means you are ready for the next step-Installing Windows 7.
Installing Windows 7
Check whether your computer is compatible with Windows 7 or not. It means you must have 1GB of RAM, Optical Driver in DVD-R/W, processor of at least 1GHz etc. You also must have enough space in your computer because Windows 7 need almost 16-20 GB of free space. Check whether the software drivers for your computer hardware are available or not. You may download the drivers from the Internet or even use a universal drivers CD package for collection of drivers.
Don’t forget to check if you have the original Windows 7 Installation DVD.
After all these steps are done, you can safely install Windows 7 on your computer . It is very simple, you just have to wait until the system copies all of the files and after that you will have to follow some simple steps:
  • Choose to Install a new copy of Windows 7.
  • Pick the partition you want to install(usually is C:\ ). After you click Next, the installation of Windows 7 will begin and it will take a while before the computer will ask for a Restart.
  • After the Reboot takes place, you have to enter your Name and Password and in the next screen Microsoft will ask you to enter Windows 7 Product Key.
  • Now that the Installation is almost done, Windows will ask you things about Display and Settings and you have to click Use Recommended Settings and click Next. The last step Windows 7 will ask is about Date and Time Settings. After these settings are completed Windows 7 is finally installed on your computer.
Final Words
Once the installation of Windows 7 is done, you can safely install the drives and programs you used before. After that you can also copy from the other drives, the folders that you wanted to keep safe: My Documents, Desktop, the ones from Program Files, etc.
Now that you completely installed Windows 7 and your old files stayed safe with you, enjoy Windows 7 and try to keep it safe by using an Antivirus Software and also a Firewall.
